CiMA's mission is to help Catholics and media professionals who share our values to integrate their faith into their professional lives. We do this by actively encouraging, promoting, and honoring media professionals and films, television programs, and other entertainment forms that uplift the human spirit and promote human dignity.
Catholics in Media Associates was formed by working professionals in the entertainment industry whose purpose is to share personal concerns of faith and spirituality as it is experienced in the workplace.
From that early beginning came the CiMA Awards, recognizing those projects and people in the entertainment industry who, by their work, have made clearer the Word of God. These awards were created to promote and applaud media professionals and films, television programs, and other entertainment forms that uplift the human spirit, promote human dignity, and help us better understand what it is to be part of the human family.
CiMA is a non-profit organization. Because of the generosity of individuals and companies, we are able to celebrate our Mass and Awards Brunch and continue our mission throughout the year.
The very first medium in the world was light. CiMA’s award reflects the light of God’s enduring love for humanity, indeed all creation, as demonstrated by the storytellers and stories this award recognizes.
The crystal Hollywood searchlight design reminds us that the goal of the Catholics in Media Awards is to seek out and celebrate the true, the good, and the beautiful in film and television.
